The Slovenian thinker Zizek said:
“We ‘feel free’ because we lack the language to express our lack of freedom.”
Here’s another thought: if economy studies the distribution of scarce goods, then how can capitalism and the free market be thought of as economically sufficient to allow some to owe more than they can ever utilize and others to always own less than they need? And how can one be truly free if one lacks the means to meet one’s needs?
